(Born Farrokh Bulsara, 5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991) was a British musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and powerful vocals over a four-octave range. As a songwriter, Mercury composed many hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Killer Queen", "Somebody to Love", "Don't Stop Me Now", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "We Are the Champions". In addition to his work with Queen, he led a solo career, penning hits such as "Barcelona", "I Was Born to Love You" and "Living on My Own". Mercury also occasionally served as a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists. He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, only one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease.
Brian May announced in a September 2010 BBC interview that Sacha Baron Cohen, previously best known for his comedic characters Borat, Ali G and Brüno, had been chosen to play Mercury in a film about his life. TIME commented with approval on his singing ability and visual similarity to Mercury. The motion picture is being written by Peter Morgan, who had been nominated for Oscars for his screenplays The Queen and Frost/Nixon. The film, which is being co-produced by Robert De Niro's TriBeCa Productions, will focus on Queen's formative years and the period leading up to the celebrated performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert. Filming is due to begin sometime in 2011.

As a heterosexual women who grew up listening to Queen my admiration of Freddy Mercury is to his talent skill and genius in writing composing interpretating and performaning. Mercury was and is the one and only ROCK AND ROLL GOD that was driven by perfection. As he boldly said "when one is number one being number two simply is not acceptable". I can only imagine that he ended that statement with "darling". Freddy easily achieved number one status with his powerful 4 octave voice unmatched and out performed by any other The culmination of Freddy's talent is best seen in Queens Live Aid performance. The show manship in this performance displayed Freddy's love affair with his audience - the millions of adoring people whom he held in the palm of his hand while in their presence. I never saw Queen live but from repeatedlt and obsessively watching every performance I include myself in saying' this man this beautiful man gave the world so much in his short life.
ReplyDeleteAlso as a woman my equal obsession with the HOT SEXY FREDDy MERCURY is my undying love affair with a man I never met, yet that touched and moved me intellectually, sexually, and so lovingly as no man ever has in the flesh. The great music critics knew, felt and wrote about the power of this man through his music. I am in agreement here. Freddy's power that has never been written about before is his power to attract and entwine women with his sex appeal emotions passion and lust for love. I am bereft to know that off stage he felt so lonely. Because 40 years after he made his brave exit from this world, I still love exactly who Freddy Mercury was and is. And I fuel my unending love affair with this man by looking hearing, and feeling him every day of my life
